Smeaton Estate, a working farm of 450 acres, has been owned and run by the Gray family since 1934. Set in the beautiful East Lothian countryside the family have carefully maintained and preserved the natural beauty of the estate as well as working the land.
The mansion house and lake
The grounds of the old mansion house (sadly demolished in the 1950s) are now parkland open to the public to explore. In the 1830s the then owner of the estate created a lake and arboretum, a legacy which the Gray family have carefully conserved. The collection of trees around the lake has earnt it a place in the National Tree Collection of Scotland and with a well maintained path it is one of the few significant tree collections in Scotland open to the public all year round.
Smeaton Estate, is located in the peaceful village of East Linton in the heart of East Lothian. It is within walking distance of local amenities including 2 pubs (both serving food), a Co-op supermarktet with cash machine, local butcher and chemist.
The village has good transport links to Edinburgh (40 minute drive to central Edinburgh or a 25 minute train journey from Drem or Dunbar)
